The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that they had discovered the body of 14-year-old Binyamin Achimair in the West Bank, near Malachei HaShalom. The IDF confirmed that the boy had gone missing on Friday morning and was the victim of a terrorist attack.
Israeli security forces are actively pursuing suspects linked to the boy’s murder, with the investigation now under the jurisdiction of the Shin Bet, Israel’s Security Agency.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the alleged murder as “abominable” and emphasized the seriousness of the crime. He stated that both the IDF and the Shin Bet are vigorously pursuing the perpetrators and any accomplices.
Following Achimair’s disappearance, settlers launched a huge attack on a Palestinian village, according to reports from The Associated Press.
The tragic news of the boy’s death coincides with escalating tensions in the Middle East. Israel is reportedly on high alert, anticipating a potential major retaliatory strike from Iran following Israeli airstrikes in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of seven Iranian military members.
