In response to Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced outstanding changes to the House of Representatives’ upcoming legislative agenda.

Scalise stated that the House would shift its focus next week to propose and debate new legislation aimed at bolstering support for Israel and imposing consequences on Iran and its allied terrorist groups for the attack.

“The House of Representatives stands firmly with Israel, and there must be consequences for this unprovoked attack,” Scalise articulated in a statement on the social media platform X. He further noted that more detailed information about the specific legislative measures to be discussed would be released soon.

While Scalise’s announcement did not specify whether the discussions would include the contentious $95 billion supplemental spending bill—which allocates $14 billion for Israel and $60 billion for Ukraine among other allocations—it highlighted the ongoing debates within Congress.

This bill, having already cleared the Senate in February, faces opposition in the House from some conservative members opposed to further Ukraine funding and progressive members critical of additional support for Israel despite its military actions in Gaza.

The Iran-launched missile attack on Israel resulted in minimal damage thanks to the successful interception of most missiles by Israeli and allied defense systems, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF confirmed that the defense efforts were effective but acknowledged minor damages at a southern Israeli military base.
