Gayle King and Charles Barkley’s venture into prime-time television on CNN has concluded. Last week, the pair signed off for the last time on their show, “King Charles,” which was initially introduced as a limited series.
The program, which started airing just months after CNN’s former CEO Chris Licht was ousted, featured a blend of commentary and interviews across various topics, including politics, television, and music. Despite its efforts, the show struggled to capture a substantial audience in the competitive cable news environment.

Reflecting on the show’s potential audience impact, Barkley humorously remarked in an early episode, “We hope you all like the show. And we hope like hell y’all got Nielsen boxes,” as reported by The Washington Post.
CNN has confirmed the series’ conclusion, noting in a statement that “King Charles has come to the end of its limited run as we announced when it launched last fall and was a great addition to CNN’s lineup, with the youngest, most affluent, and most diverse P2+ audience in its cable news time period.”

King continues her role as a co-host on “CBS Mornings,” and Barkley remains a prominent basketball analyst for TNT, sharing a parent company with CNN in Warner Bros. Discovery.
