Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, is taking a neutral stance on the upcoming presidential race, urging voters to conduct their own research before casting their ballots.

In an interview with Time magazine as part of its 100 Most Influential People of 2024 series, Mahomes emphasized the importance of individuals using their voices and making informed decisions.

Despite his immense popularity and influence, Mahomes refrained from endorsing any specific presidential candidate, stating, “I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president.” He emphasized the need for people to engage in thorough research and vote according to their own beliefs.

Mahomes, who led his team to victory in this year’s Super Bowl and has been named Most Valuable Player three times, has previously been involved in initiatives to promote voter turnout. He participated in LeBron James’s More Than a Vote campaign, aimed at increasing African American voter engagement during the 2020 election.

While Mahomes did not publicly endorse any candidate in the 2020 election, he did join President Biden alongside his teammates after winning the 2023 Super Bowl. Biden praised Mahomes at the time, predicting that he would be one of the greatest quarterbacks of any generation.

Mahomes’s decision to remain neutral mirrors that of other public figures, such as actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who recently stated that he would not endorse any candidate for the 2024 election. Johnson highlighted the importance of keeping his political views private and leaving the decision-making process to voters.

In political division and conjecture, Mahomes’s position reminds people to engage in the electoral process with care and discernment. As the election season progresses, his message urges voters to embrace their civic duties and make well-informed decisions when casting their ballots.
