Rep. Kat Cammack, a Florida Republican, voiced strong criticism of Senate Democrats’ expected move to dismiss or table the articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Speaking on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” Cammack expressed concern that this action would depart from historical precedent and the constitutional duty to hold officials accountable.
Cammack emphasized the urgency of addressing border and immigration issues, stating that every town in America is affected due to the Biden administration‘s failure to secure the border.
She argued that dismissing or tabling the impeachment articles would be a disservice to the American people, who deserve to hear about Mayorkas’s alleged failures, negligence, and misleading statements.
Referring to a report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform estimating the cost of illegal immigration to taxpayers at $182 billion, Cammack condemned the financial burden despite national debt, deficits, and ongoing fiscal challenges.
She highlighted the need for fiscal responsibility, citing concerns about Treasury bond placements and record inflation.
Regarding foreign aid bills pushed by House Speaker Mike Johnson, Cammack stressed the importance of including a border component.
However, she expressed skepticism about President Biden’s commitment to border security and adherence to the law, regardless of legislative efforts.
Cammack underscored the necessity of securing conservative victories to steer the country back on track, emphasizing accountability for government failures and the imperative of addressing pressing national security and fiscal concerns.
