Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Republican from New Jersey, expressed his stance on the current leadership situation in the House, emphasizing that it is not the right time for a leadership change.

During an interview on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” Van Drew highlighted his concerns regarding recent legislative decisions but underscored the importance of unity and focus within the Republican Party.

Van Drew acknowledged his dissatisfaction with certain legislative measures, including the FISA bill, appropriations bills, and foreign aid initiatives.

Despite these concerns, he emphasized the need for Republicans to prioritize winning elections and achieving a stronger conservative majority in the House, Senate, and presidency. Van Drew emphasized that this unified approach is essential for accomplishing meaningful change and advancing conservative values.

Regarding calls to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, Van Drew cautioned against such actions, describing them as a distraction from the party’s broader goals. He stressed the importance of presenting a united front to the American people and demonstrating effective leadership.

Van Drew referenced discussions he had with former President Donald Trump, highlighting their shared belief in the necessity of focusing on winning elections to enact meaningful change. He argued that removing the speaker at this juncture would only sow division and undermine the party’s ability to lead effectively.

In response to threats from Republican representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie to oust Speaker Johnson over disagreements regarding Ukraine aid, Van Drew urged restraint and called for a focus on the bigger picture.

He emphasized the need for Republicans to come together and strategize for future electoral victories, rather than engaging in internal conflicts.

Van Drew emphasized the importance of looking ahead to the next session and planning for effective governance in collaboration with the Senate majority leader and the president. He encouraged fellow Republicans to prioritize unity and strategic planning to achieve their shared objectives.
