House Republicans are actively working to enhance the proposed funding bill for Ukraine with what Rep. Nancy Mace calls “common sense measures” while addressing existing loopholes, she shared in a Thursday interview on Newsmax.

Mace highlighted her efforts by submitting 11 amendments in the past 24 hours aimed at improving various aspects of the bill, including border security and Ukraine funding. Emphasizing the importance of relevance to ensure passage, she explained that amendments must align with the bill’s scope to advance through the Rules Committee.

One outstanding loophole in the bill, Mace pointed out, allows the president to forgive any loans extended to Ukraine, a provision she seeks to strike. Advocating for transparency and accountability, she proposed amendments to halt IRS spending directed towards sending funds to Ukraine.

Expressing satisfaction with progress made, Mace credited collective efforts for securing border security measures within the bill. She emphasized the paramount importance of safeguarding the nation’s borders and highlighted upcoming votes on these measures.

Additionally, Mace discussed amendments she proposed related to the border bill, such as the inclusion of the Violence Against Women Act, which mandates the deportation of immigrants who commit violence against women.

Stressing the need for swift action against such crimes, she underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of all individuals, especially vulnerable populations.

Shifting gears, Mace addressed recent Senate testimony from Boeing regarding safety concerns within the company, particularly whistleblower Sam Salehpour’s account of being silenced when flagging safety issues.

Emphasizing the need for whistleblower protection, Mace highlighted the importance of fostering an environment where individuals feel safe to report concerns, especially in industries crucial for public safety like aviation.
