Donald Trump Jr. took to social media on Thursday to criticize House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for his change of stance regarding border security measures in the context of a foreign aid package.
Trump Jr. posted a 56-second montage video of Johnson repeatedly emphasizing the importance of border security before considering aid for Ukraine and Israel. Set to the theme music of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” the video highlights Johnson mentioning the word “border” 12 times.
In his post accompanying the video, Trump Jr. expressed frustration, urging people not to believe Republican leadership blindly. He emphasized the need to pay attention to those who are not bothered by such changes, suggesting they are not allies.
This post followed a series of tweets over the past 24 hours, where Trump Jr. criticized Johnson’s decision to split the aid package from border security.
Johnson’s amendment to the aid bill included $9 billion in “forgivable loans” to Ukraine, which President Joe Biden could potentially forgive entirely in 2026.
Trump Jr. accused the “Swamp” of underestimating conservatives and criticized Republican leadership for allegedly capitulating to Democratic demands, referencing comments made by Chuck Schumer.
Earlier in the week, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., called for Johnson’s resignation, pledging support for a motion to vacate Johnson’s position. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also joined in calling for Johnson’s resignation. Despite these calls, Johnson refused to step down.
