According to polling data released on Friday, former President Trump holds a 6-point lead over President Biden in North Carolina.
The Mason-Dixon North Carolina poll reveals that Trump commands 49 percent support among Tar Heel State voters, while Biden trails with 43 percent. An obvious 8 percent remain undecided.
Despite Trump’s lead, North Carolina’s Democratic Governor, Roy Cooper, expressed optimism about Biden’s prospects for the upcoming fall elections. Cooper believes Biden can secure victory in North Carolina, emphasizing the campaign’s investment and presence in the state.

North Carolina has historically favored Republican presidential candidates, with no Democrat winning the state since Barack Obama in 2008. Trump clinched victories in both 2016 and 2020.
The Biden campaign sees North Carolina as a potential battleground for flipping in 2024 but acknowledges the need for relentless effort to mobilize the necessary voter support by November.
According to the poll, Trump maintains a substantial lead of 30 points in western North Carolina. Conversely, Biden leads by 18 points in the Triangle area encompassing Raleigh and Durham, and holds a narrower advantage in the Charlotte metro area.

Trump leads among male voters in North Carolina, while Biden leads among female voters. Additionally, Trump enjoys strong support from white voters, capturing 61 percent, while Biden secures 80 percent of Black voters. Among independent voters, Trump leads with 49 percent to Biden’s 41 percent.
Polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ also indicate a 3-point advantage for Trump over Biden in the state.
Conducted from April 9 to April 13 among 635 registered North Carolina voters, the Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
