Robin Hayes Appointed to Run Airbus North America Following JetBlue Stint

Ex-JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes to run Airbus North America

Robin Hayes, former CEO of JetBlue Airways, is set to take over as head of Airbus’ North America division, stepping into the shoes of Jeffrey Knittel. This transition comes after Hayes departed JetBlue in February, following the collapse of the airline’s bid to acquire Spirit Airlines due to antitrust litigation.

With a wealth of experience in the airline industry, including stints at British Airways, Hayes is poised to lead Airbus’ operations in North America, a region where the company has expanded its production of narrow-body jets in Mobile, Alabama. Noteworthy clients in this region include Delta Air Lines, JetBlue (his former employer), and Spirit Airlines.

Hayes’ decision to leave JetBlue earlier this year was prompted by personal considerations, citing the demanding nature of his role and the need to prioritize his health and well-being. Despite the challenges faced during his tenure at JetBlue, his leadership has been marked by significant industry developments, including the pursuit of strategic acquisitions and partnerships.

As he transitions to Airbus, Hayes brings with him a depth of knowledge and insights gained from his extensive career in the aviation sector, positioning him to navigate the complexities of Airbus’ North American operations effectively.

With Airbus’ continued investment in North America, particularly in the production of narrow-body jets, Hayes’ appointment underscores the company’s commitment to the region and its key stakeholders. His experience in managing airline partnerships and navigating regulatory challenges will likely be instrumental in driving Airbus’ growth strategy and strengthening its presence in North America.

As he assumes leadership of Airbus’ North American arm in June, Hayes will be tasked with fostering relationships with existing clients and pursuing opportunities for expansion in a dynamic and competitive market landscape.

Hayes’ appointment signals a strategic move by Airbus to bolster its leadership team with seasoned industry professionals as the company seeks to capitalize on growth opportunities and navigate evolving market dynamics in North America. With his proven track record and vision for the future of aviation, Hayes is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing Airbus’ business objectives and shaping the trajectory of the company’s operations in the region.
