Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of obtaining crucial weapons systems to help his country in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
During an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Zelensky highlighted the importance of receiving the necessary support from the United States, particularly in the form of long-range artillery and air defense systems.
He expressed gratitude for the recent approval of additional foreign aid by the House, which includes $61 billion for Ukraine. Zelensky believes that this support will strengthen Ukraine’s armed forces and improve its chances of achieving victory in the war.
However, he emphasized the need for the aid to translate into tangible weapon systems rather than being dispersed across various areas.
Zelensky outlined the specific weapon systems that Ukraine requires, including long-range artillery and air defense capabilities.
He explained that these systems are essential for minimizing casualties and gaining an advantage on the front lines. Despite allies’ approval to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, Zelensky noted that the country has yet to receive them.
When asked about the timeline for the conflict, Zelensky stated that it depends on when Ukraine obtains the necessary weapons systems.
He believes that acquiring these systems will enable Ukraine to stabilize the situation, regain the initiative, and better protect itself. However, he refrained from providing a specific timeline, emphasizing the importance of receiving aid in a timely manner.
