Season 1 Recap
Dorothy and Sean have just lost their 13-week-old son Jericho, leaving Dorothy in a catatonic state. The psychologist suggests them to have a reborn doll. Dorothy is happy, and she begins to treat the doll as if it were her real son. They later hire a nanny from Wisconsin, Leanne Grayson, to take care of the doll. She seems a bit odd and out of the place when she first introduces herself. She admires how Dorothy takes care of her “baby,” much to Sean’s dismay. Dorothy goes back to her job as a reporter. Sean explains to Leanne that the baby died, and he kept the news secret to keep Dorothy happy with the doll, though Leanne is completely okay with treating it as if it were a real baby.
One day when Leanne comes back from a walk with the “baby,” Sean sees the doll and gets surprised when it turns out to be a real baby. He confides in his brother-in-law, believing that Leanne swapped the doll for an abducted baby. He later ends up having weird symptoms: splinters all over his body and loss of taste and smell. Dorothy ends up having catatonic flashes, possibly due to post-traumatic stress disorder. This soon causes Sean to grow more suspicious of Leanne.

It is later revealed that the real Leanne had died as an infant when Jullian hires a private investigator to find out more about her. He even sends a woman and her child to persuade her into quitting the job as Turner’s nanny. Leanne wanted to know what happened to Jericho and how he died. Julian tells her everything about what happened to the baby and the history of the Turner family.
Later, Leanne receives a mysterious letter from someone, claiming they found her. It is later revealed that Leanne is a part of a cult known as the Church of Lesser Saints. Her uncle George arrives to take her back to the cult. Later the cult leader, May Markham, arrives and forces Leanne to come back to the cult as her servant and not Dorothy’s. Leanne agrees, and she packs her things up and leaves the Turners’ house to go back to the cult. Season 2 is currently streaming on Apple TV+. Season 3 will release sometime in late 2021-early 2022.
