Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to US President Joe Biden, Congress, and the American people for their support in passing a crucial foreign aid package, which includes $60.84 billion for Ukraine. The package, signed into law by Biden on April 24, marks a huge milestone in Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Zelensky acknowledged the delay in passing the aid, stating, “Now, we will do everything to compensate for the six months that have passed in debate and doubt.” He emphasized the need to counter Russia’s actions, including attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector, infrastructure, and civilians, by increasing pressure on Russia.
The president highlighted the urgency of delivering the latest military package, which includes ATACMS, artillery, anti-tank weapons, HIMARS munitions, air defense systems, and other equipment, to Ukrainian forces as quickly as possible.
The Pentagon has announced its readiness to move forward with sending $1 billion worth of weapons from US stockpiles to Kyiv.
Zelensky’s message emphasized the importance of unity and swift action in supporting Ukraine’s defense and countering Russia’s aggression.
With the aid package secured, Ukraine and its allies can now focus on mobilizing resources and pressure to bring an end to the conflict and restore peace to the region.
