Former New Jersey Governor and Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie has boldly predicted sports commentator Stephen A. Smith’s future, suggesting that it’s “more likely than not” that Smith will run for president someday. While Christie doesn’t think it’s imminent, he believes Smith’s influence and popularity could lead him to consider a political career.

Smith, the host of ESPN’s debate show “First Take,” has been sparking talk of a potential political future for years. His outspoken views on politics and his willingness to engage in political discussions have made him a household name. He’s even interviewed political figures like Chris Christie and has called out both primary parties for their chosen candidates.

Despite being a primarily Democratic voter, Smith has criticized the Democratic Party for choosing President Biden, who is 81, as its candidate to run against former President Trump.

However, he’s also defended Biden from “disrespectful” comments from far-right commentators like Sean Hannity. Smith has also spoken out against Trump’s criminal hush money trial, which is currently underway, and has argued that the Democratic Party’s strategy to entangle Trump in legal problems ahead of the election is not the right approach.

Smith has said that the only office that would interest him is the presidency of the United States, but he doesn’t think the American people would ever vote for him.

However, with his growing influence and popularity, it’s possible that he could consider running in the future. Members of both parties have spoken to him about running for office, including a Pennsylvania Senate seat at one point.

According to Mediaite, Smith was named the eighth-most powerful person in media last year, and his platform has the potential to reach a wide audience. His interview with Chris Christie was so well-received that it even led to campaign donations.

Adam Mendelsohn, a former adviser to Arnold Schwarzenegger and current media adviser to LeBron James, has also noted that politicians may consider joining Smith for a conversation, given the power of his platform.

While Smith may not be considering a political career just yet, his influence and popularity make him a potential force to be reckoned with in the future. As Chris Christie said, “I don’t think it’s imminent, but will he run someday? I think it’s more likely than not that he would.”
