House Republicans made a big mistake and proved themselves wrong about the January 6 Capitol riot. They’ve been saying that police let rioters into the Capitol, but it turns out that’s not true.
Reporter Jamie Dupree shared a video from inside the Capitol’s main doors. It showed rioters breaking in and pushing past police officers. This goes against what the GOP has been saying.
This revelation comes after Speaker of the House Mike Johnson announced in November that most of the security footage from that day would be released to the public.
However, it appears that Johnson and other Republicans may not have considered how much of the footage would actually debunk their own stories and conspiracy theories about the events of January 6.
Despite the evidence, many in the GOP continue to spread misinformation, claiming that innocent Americans were simply “walking through the building” or that fake Trump supporters arrived in Washington, D.C., on “ghost buses.” Even Trump himself was caught on tape claiming he could have stopped the riots when, in reality, he wanted to join them.
The latest discovery provides video proof against one of the many January 6 conspiracy theories, further undermining the GOP’s narrative.
While it may not convince die-hard Trump supporters, who often ignore the fact that many January 6 defendants claim they were acting on Trump’s orders, it is a crucial step in setting the record straight and holding those responsible accountable.
As more truth comes to light, it becomes increasingly clear that the events of January 6 were a violent and deliberate attempt to undermine democracy and not the peaceful protest that many Republicans have claimed.
