Samuel Alito’s Lame Excuse for Flying Anti-Government Flag Raises Eyebrows

Supreme Court Justice Alito's Unconvincing Explanation for "Stop the Steal" Flag Display

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has sunk to a new low, blaming his wife for flying an upside-down American flag outside their home in January 2021.

This symbol, often associated with the anti-government far-right, was displayed for several days leading up to President Biden’s inauguration.

Neighbors photographed the flag on January 17 and discussed its continued presence on January 18. While Alito claims it was part of a passive-aggressive dispute with their neighbors, experts say it’s a clear violation of ethics rules prohibiting bias.

Samuel Alito’s Feeble Attempt to Justify “Stop the Steal” Flag at His Home

The inverted flag has a history as a naval distress symbol and has been used in anti-war and anti-fascist protests. However, its recent association with the far-right and its display during the “Stop the Steal” protests against the presidential election certification make its presence at the Alito residence particularly concerning.

Judicial experts argue that Alito’s responsibility as a Supreme Court justice means he should not have allowed the flag to be displayed, even if it was his wife’s doing.

This incident adds to Alito’s history of questionable behavior, including a luxury fishing trip with a Republican billionaire donor in 2008.

The lack of accountability and transparency among Supreme Court justices is alarming, and Alito’s excuses only fuel the fire. It’s time for a higher standard of ethics and accountability from those who shape the highest laws in the land.
