In Tampa, a 71-year-old woman named Patricia Whitehead allegedly shot and killed her roommate because he failed to clean up after himself. Whitehead now faces a charge of first-degree premeditated felony murder, as recorded by the Hillsborough County Court.
Police were called to a home on E. 26th Avenue at around 9:28 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed that Whitehead and the victim lived together. Whitehead had become increasingly frustrated with her roommate, citing his lack of cleanliness as the cause of her anger. This frustration came to a head when the victim slammed the door as he left the house.
In retaliation, Whitehead retrieved a firearm from her bedroom, went outside, and shot the victim multiple times. She is currently being held without bond at the Orient Road Jail, and no court date has been scheduled yet. Attempts to contact her public defender have been unsuccessful.
