Police in Jupiter, Florida, arrested Michael M. Wiseman on Friday for allegedly making online threats toward former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance. According to the Jupiter Police Department (JPD), Wiseman was detained without incident and charged with Written Threats to Kill due to comments he purportedly made on social media. The arrest followed multiple tips received by the JPD from online crime tips and concerned residents.
Detectives discovered that Wiseman had posted multiple threats against Trump and Vance on his Facebook account. He also allegedly threatened bodily harm to members of their families. The JPD collaborated with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office during their investigation.
This arrest came shortly after an assassination attempt on Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The attempt left Trump with a minor injury and resulted in the death of one rally attendee and injuries to two others. Additionally, Vance, a Republican, had recently been selected as Trump’s vice presidential nominee prior to the Republican National Convention.

In another incident, the Secret Service arrested Jason Patrick Alday in Florida on Monday for making threats against President Joe Biden. Alday was charged with three counts of making threats against the president and federal officials. The recent series of threats and attacks have raised concerns about political violence in the country.
President Biden addressed the nation, calling for unity and condemning political violence following the rally shooting. Trump also called for unity during his speech at the RNC, although he criticized his political opponents for exacerbating divisions.
Trump urged the Democratic Party to stop what he called partisan attacks and allow the electoral process to proceed fairly. The White House clarified that Biden is not involved in the criminal cases against Trump, who is facing multiple legal challenges.
