Police in northern Virginia are searching for Toby Shane Kessler, a 39-year-old homeless man, in connection with a break-in at an office used by Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Kessler on charges of burglary. The break-in occurred at an office in Ashburn that is leased by the Trump campaign and also serves as the headquarters for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.
Surveillance footage captured Kessler forcing his way through a back door into the office building on Sunday night. The video clearly shows his face, but it is unclear what, if anything, was taken during the brief time he spent inside. Authorities do not believe Kessler left any items behind or caused significant damage.
The sheriff’s office has not yet determined if there was any political motivation behind the break-in. They are awaiting Kessler’s arrest to gather more information. The investigation will reveal whether the incident was related to the Trump campaign or if it was purely opportunistic.
Kessler has a known history of criminal behavior and has been in the Washington metropolitan area since at least 2018. He holds a California driver’s license, and last month, he was charged in neighboring Fairfax County with entering the property with the intent to cause damage. The status of this case is currently pending, and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment.
As of now, Kessler does not have any pending charges in Loudoun County, where the current burglary warrant has been issued. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend Kessler and determine the full extent of the incident.
