Harris Campaign Promotes Housing Initiative in Latest Ad

Vice President Kamala Harris

Vice President Harris‘s campaign launched a new advertisement on Tuesday, emphasizing her strategy to reduce housing costs and address the ongoing housing crisis, all while adding a personal touch to her message.

The one-minute ad, titled “Full House” and narrated by Harris herself, connects her housing policy to her own upbringing. In the video, Harris reflects on her family’s experience with homeownership.

Harris’s New Ad Highlights Her Detailed Plan to Reduce Housing Costs and Increase Home Affordability for Americans

“Throughout most of my childhood, we rented our home,” Harris shares in the ad. “My mother spent over a decade saving up to buy a house. I was a teenager when she finally achieved that dream, and I vividly remember how thrilled she was.”

Understanding the importance of homeownership, Harris expressed concern that it is now unattainable for many American families. She pledged to take action against corporate landlords who purchase homes only to rent them out at exorbitant rates and promised to increase the supply of new homes and rental properties.

“We must do everything in our power to make homeownership more affordable, not less,” Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, asserted.

Harris’s housing plan, uncovered earlier this month, includes the construction of three million new housing units, tax incentives for builders to create “starter homes” for first-time buyers, and a $40 billion innovation fund for local governments to develop affordable housing.

This new ad is part of Harris’s $90 million end-of-August media campaign, marking the third ad in a series focused on the economy and reducing costs for Americans.
