On Halloween night, a tragic murder-suicide took place in Longview, Washington, where a couple died in a violent confrontation discovered by their 11-year-old son. Police responded to a 911 call at the residence around 6 p.m., finding Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz, 38, and Cecilia Robles Ochoa, 39, gravely injured in the kitchen. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 11-year-old boy, the only other person home at the time, had been playing video games in a separate room with earbuds in and was unaware of the altercation until he discovered his parents’ bodies and made the call to authorities.
Investigators spoke with neighbors and other witnesses, who shared that Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa had been experiencing relationship difficulties and were planning to separate.
These accounts suggested a buildup of tension between the couple, which may have culminated in the deadly confrontation on Halloween night. Police have not publicly released additional background information regarding their relationship or any other previous domestic disturbances.
The autopsy reports revealed that Alvarado Saenz died from multiple stab wounds to his chest, while Robles Ochoa sustained both gunshot and stab wounds.
The police recovered a pistol and a knife from the scene, with the gun identified as one stolen from Alvarado Saenz’s employer—a theft that had not been noticed until after the investigation into their deaths began. The presence of these weapons provided disturbing details, but the authorities could not conclusively establish who initiated the violent encounter.
A GoFundMe page was later established by the family to cover funeral expenses, mentioning that the couple had three children. The devastating incident left not only the couple’s children but also the community in shock, highlighting the tragic impact of unresolved conflict within relationships.
The case remains under investigation, with law enforcement acknowledging the complex nature of the event and its toll on the surviving family members.
