Model Jenifer “Jenn” An has filed a lawsuit accusing Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, of sexual assault during the filming of a music video in 2010. The alleged incident occurred while filming a remix of British duo LaRoux’s song “In for the Kill” at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City.

According to the lawsuit, Ye, who controlled the shoot, turned it into what An described as a fetish porn scene, during which he gagged and choked her until she lost consciousness. An, who was 23 at the time and a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model, has named both Ye and Universal Music Group as defendants, accusing the latter of failing to investigate the alleged assault.

The lawsuit details how Ye reportedly asked the models and actors to line up in a hallway and specifically chose two individuals, including An. He allegedly directed the group to a suite equipped with a couch and camera, where the assault reportedly took place.

An claims Ye strangled her, covered her face with his hands, and forced his fingers down her throat repeatedly, describing his actions as “art” and likening himself to Picasso. She recounted feeling humiliated and traumatized, and described how her makeup and saliva were smeared on her face afterward.

An’s legal filing accuses Ye of sexual assault and seeks compensatory and punitive damages for the emotional and psychological harm she says she endured. Her attorney, Jesse Weinstein, praised An for her courage in speaking out against powerful figures in the entertainment industry.

He emphasized the importance of accountability and stated that Ye should not be exempt from consequences due to his fame and success. The case has been filed with the U.S. District Court for Southern New York in Manhattan.

Ye has yet to publicly respond to the allegations. The incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding the rapper, whose career has been marked by both artistic achievements and polarizing personal conduct. An’s case underscores the broader reckoning in the entertainment industry regarding the abuse of power and the demand for accountability among high-profile figures.

The allegations highlight ongoing challenges in addressing misconduct within the music and entertainment sectors. Advocates have pointed out that speaking out against prominent individuals often comes with risks of public scrutiny and retaliation, making cases like An’s crucial in the broader effort to ensure justice and support for survivors of abuse.
