Alvelo faces serious charges, including attempted murder with a weapon, home invasion with a firearm, and aggravated assault. The attack occurred at a motel where Irizarry was staying with her boyfriend and 5-year-old daughter, escalating from a minor disagreement over a $2 tip for a pizza delivery into a violent assault.
The situation began when Irizarry ordered a pizza and offered Alvelo a $2 tip. Alvelo reportedly reacted with visible dissatisfaction, rolling her eyes and walking away without commenting after taking the money. Irizarry explained that she had tried to find additional cash but failed. This initial disagreement appeared to culminate later in a terrifying invasion, where Alvelo and a male accomplice, armed with a knife and a gun, forced their way into Irizarry’s motel room while the family was asleep.

According to police, the male accomplice separated Irizarry’s boyfriend, taking him into the bathroom, and leaving Irizarry and her young daughter with Alvelo. Alvelo allegedly searched through Irizarry’s belongings, vandalizing the room and breaking the child’s Nintendo Switch. The situation escalated when Irizarry turned her back to shield her daughter. At this moment, Alvelo began stabbing Irizarry multiple times, initially leading the victim to believe she had been punched until she noticed the bleeding.
Irizarry described the attack as frenzied, stopping only when the male suspect called Alvelo to leave. The brutal assault left Irizarry with 14 stab wounds to her chest, arms, legs, and abdomen, including a punctured lung. Emergency responders rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent surgery, and doctors discovered she was several weeks pregnant. Miraculously, Irizarry survived the ordeal, but the trauma of the event will likely have lasting repercussions.
Alvelo was arrested and is currently held without bail in the Osceola County Jail. If convicted, she could face a life sentence for the violent crimes she is accused of committing.
