George Michael was an English musician, composer, and music producer. Including over 120 million records sold worldwide, he is among the most important cultural figures of the MTV revolution and the most outstanding musician ever. Michael was regarded as a top artistic genius in composition, music production, vocal, and visual elements.
He has seven singles that reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, plus eight tracks that did similarly on the US Billboard Hot 100. Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, better known as George Michael, was born on June 25, 1963, in East Finchley. In the mid-50s, his father, restaurateur Kyriacos “Jack” Panayiotou, immigrated from Patriki, Cyprus, to England.
His mother, Lesley Angold, was a dancer from England. Michael revealed to the Los Angeles Times in June 2008 how his maternal grandma was Jewish but also that she wed a non-Jewish guy and didn’t tell her children about their Jewish heritage out of terror amid World War II.
He had a not-so-private personal life, as it was hard to hide rumors of such eminence from the media. He had numerous relationships in his lifetime. His few that are known are Keny Goss, Anselo Fellepa & Fadi Fawaz. His last boyfriend was Fadi Fawaz, who was beside him when he took his last breath.
George Michael Career
Michael sold well over 100 million copies throughout a nearly four-decade career. He initially rose to popularity as a member of the duet Wham! with his pal Ridgeley from high school. The group had four top hits in the UK.
Last Christmas, another of the duo’s greatest popular tracks, is presently charting at number 16 in the UK. This song, which debuted in 1984, is the best-selling single that didn’t top the charts. Do They Know It’s Christmas by Band-Aid, which features Michael, prevented it from taking the top place on the list?
Then came solo albums, including Faith in 1987, which sold millions of copies. Michael received several music honors, notably 12 Billboard Music Awards, 4 MTV Video Music Awards, 3 Brit Awards, 2 Grammy Awards, 3 American Music Awards, and 3 Brit Awards.
Michael & Feleppa
In 1991 at a Rio performance, Michael met Brazilian costume designer Anselmo Feleppa at the Rock. Later in 1992, the two started dating. Feleppa revealed his HIV status to Michael six months during their relationship. An AIDS-related cerebral hemorrhage caused Feleppa’s death.
Michael routinely dedicated the song “Jesus to a Child” to Feleppa before playing it live, and the same is characteristic of his album, Older (1996). Michael commented on the death of Feleppa in 2008 and described the period as being quite gloomy. After almost three years of mourning, he eventually lost his mother. He continued by saying that he nearly felt cursed.
Michael & Goss
In 1996, Michael began a committed relationship with Dallas, Texas native Kenny Goss, a former flight attendant, cheering coach, and executive in the sportswear industry. They owned a property in Dallas, an Oxfordshire palace from the 16th century, and an $8 million estate in Highgate, North London. It was rumored in late November 2005 that Michael and Goss intended to formalize their union as a civil partnership inside the UK.
However, they decided to put off their intentions due to bad press and his forthcoming tour. Michael announced that he and Goss had broken up two years prior at the start of his Symphonica global tour on August 22, 2011.
Michael & Fadi Fawaz
Fadi Fawaz, 47, an Aussie hairdresser who is also a photographer, used to style the celebs’ hair. Stephen Gately, a Boyzone member whose heart stopped functioning in 2009 caused by sudden adult death syndrome, left a profound impact on him. He and George were captured on camera together in 2015 while on a trip to Switzerland.
In 2009, George and Fadi initially met but soon after George’s long-term lover Kenny Goss, with whom he had been dating for thirteen years, left him, the two began dating.
George Michael Death
Michael passed away in bed at his Goring-on-Thames residence in the early morning of Xmas Day 2016 at age 53. Fadi Fawaz, his companion, discovered him. In March 2017, Michael’s demise was diagnosed as enlarged cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a fatty liver by a senior coroner in Oxfordshire.
Michael’s funeral service was commemorated on March 29, 2017, due to the delay in establishing the cause of death. He was graved in a formal ceremony at Highgate Cemetery in north London. He has a grave next to his mother’s gravestone and on the other side lies his sister’s, Melanie, grave.
