Don’t Let Our Reproductive Rights Slip Away: Protect Contraception Access – The Artistree

The reversal of Roe v Wade marked the beginning of a concerted effort by right-wing forces to erode our fundamental rights, particularly reproductive freedoms.

The reversal of Roe v Wade marked the beginning of a concerted effort by right-wing forces to erode our fundamental rights, particularly reproductive freedoms.

Since then, we’ve witnessed a relentless assault on our autonomy, with attacks on IVF, IUDs, and Plan B. If Donald Trump and anti-choice lawmakers prevail in 2024, they’ll further restrict our reproductive rights, labeling contraceptives as “obscene” and “illicit” to deny access.

In response, the Right to Contraception Act, which I co-sponsor, aims to safeguard our right to birth control and contraception nationwide. As right-wing extremists threaten to roll back decades of progress, we must act to protect our reproductive autonomy.

Protect Contraception Street Protest

The Supreme Court’s consideration of Griswold v. Connecticut, which established our right to contraception, hangs in the balance. Despite overwhelming public support, House Republicans voted against the Right to Contraception Act, and Senate Republicans blocked it twice.

This legislation is crucial, as Republicans prioritize pleasing far-right groups over protecting our fundamental freedoms. We must defend our rights against those seeking to drag us back five decades.

As we approach the vote, we must uphold the principle that women have the right to make their own healthcare decisions. We urge all Americans to demand their senators support the Right to Contraception Act. Our collective future, freedoms, health, and autonomy depend on it.
