President Biden has secured a win in the Democratic presidential caucuses in Guam, as per report. This victory concludes the 2024 presidential nominating season, which saw over 100 primaries and caucuses in the past five months. The U.S. Virgin Islands also held their Democratic caucuses on Saturday.
The Democratic Party of Guam expressed their support for President Biden and Vice President Harris. Tony Babauta, the party’s chair, emphasized the importance of leadership that invests in people, improves infrastructure, focuses on sustainability and the environment, and protects women’s rights. The party looks forward to representing Guam at the Democratic National Convention.
Biden and former President Trump secured their party nominations nearly three months ago following their victories on Super Tuesday. Although the primary season has been relatively uneventful since then, recent results from some states have highlighted potential challenges for both candidates as they work to consolidate support among their base voters.
Nikki Haley, who was Trump’s last significant challenger, suspended her campaign in early March but still managed to capture a notable percentage of the vote in several Republican primaries. On the Democratic side, President Biden faced notable protest votes through the “uncommitted” option, reflecting opposition to his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
