On Friday afternoon, Kamala Harris engaged with a network of prominent Democratic donors, including major anti-Trump benefactor Reid Hoffman. Hoffman, who rallied several influential Silicon Valley contributors to participate, organized the call on short notice.
It remains uncertain whether the purpose of the call was to position Harris for donor support if 81-year-old incumbent Joe Biden withdraws from his reelection campaign or if it was aimed at reassuring Democratic supporters despite growing calls for Biden to step down.
Harris reiterated her position as Biden’s running mate and their joint campaign, implying that Biden still intends to continue his candidacy. “Given the high stakes of this election cycle, we must stay focused on the essential work needed to safeguard our democracy,” Hoffman wrote in an email inviting colleagues to the call.
During the discussion, Harris and other Democratic leaders addressed the campaign situation in key swing states. The call lasted just over 30 minutes.
Hoffman, Lawfare, & Epstein
Reid Hoffman’s political activities have been extensively documented by The National Pulse. As the co-founder and executive chairman of LinkedIn, Hoffman has been a major supporter of legal efforts against former President Donald J. Trump, including funding E. Jean Carroll’s defamation lawsuit. Hoffman has also been linked to financing Smartmatic’s legal actions against Fox News and Newsmax.
Towards the end of last year, Hoffman shifted his support to former Governor Nikki Haley in her Republican presidential primary bid, despite his previous backing of Biden. His support for Haley was part of an attempt to prevent Trump from securing the 2024 Republican nomination.
Additionally, Hoffman has a noted history with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, including a visit to Epstein’s private island, Little St. James. Hoffman also funds the left-leaning MeidasTouch website.
