On Sunday, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) harshly criticized Vice President Harris, claiming she makes President Biden appear “competent and moderate.”
“Everything has deteriorated under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Things will be even worse under Kamala Harris. Her record speaks for itself,” Cotton remarked on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Kamala Harris is an extreme liberal. Compared to her, Joe Biden seems competent and moderate.”
Cotton joins several Republicans targeting Harris since she announced her presidential bid. His comments were in response to former President Trump’s recent appeal to Christians, assuring them that with his victory, they wouldn’t need to vote again in four years because everything would be “fixed.”
“You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, everything will be fixed and fine, my beautiful Christians,” Trump stated at a conservative Christian organization event hosted by Turning Point Action on Friday. Cotton dismissed Trump’s comments and proceeded to criticize Harris.
“He’s joking about how poor things have been under Joe Biden and how great they’ll be if we return President Trump to the White House to turn the country around. The American people know this. For four years under President Trump, we had stable prices, a growing economy, and peace worldwide,” he said on Sunday.
When asked about Cotton’s remarks, the Harris campaign referred The Hill to their statement regarding Trump’s comments at the Turning Point Action event. “When Vice President Harris says this election is about freedom, she means it. Criminal Donald Trump threatens our democracy: After losing the last election, Trump incited a mob to overturn the results.
This campaign, he has promised violence if he loses, the end of our elections if he wins, and the termination of the Constitution to empower him to enact his dangerous Project 2025 agenda on America,” spokesperson James Singer said.
“Donald Trump aims to take America backward to politics of hate, chaos, and fear – this November, America will rally around Vice President Kamala Harris to stop him,” he added.
