In a move to build momentum before the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, along with their spouses, are set to launch a bus tour across Pennsylvania.
Starting in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Harris, Walz, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Minnesota’s first lady Gwen Walz will travel through western Pennsylvania, according to a campaign press release. This tour represents the inaugural joint campaign appearance of all four principals, underscoring their strategy to engage directly with voters.
With Pennsylvania being a key battleground state—having shifted from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020—the Democrats are intensifying their efforts there. Last week, Harris and Walz held their first rally together in Philadelphia. Current polling from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ indicates Harris holds a slight lead over Trump in Pennsylvania, with 47.6% to Trump’s 46.8%.
The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to begin Monday in Chicago, where Walz is set to speak on Wednesday and Harris will deliver her remarks and official acceptance speech on Thursday. In addition to their Pennsylvania tour, Harris and Walz are planning a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, coinciding with the convention’s activities in Chicago.
