On Friday, Republican pollster Frank Luntz offered blunt advice to former President Trump, suggesting a shift in his approach. “If I were advising him, which I am not, I would tell him directly, ‘Sir, you need to stop acting like a petulant child and start addressing what the American people want in a manner they appreciate,’” Luntz said during an appearance on “CNN This Morning” with anchor Kasie Hunt.
GOP leaders have urged Trump to concentrate on policy differences with Vice President Harris rather than continuing his personal attacks. Following a period of uncertainty over President Biden’s potential exit from the 2024 race, Harris has gained considerable momentum and enthusiasm among Democrats.
Luntz noted, “If I shout at you every time I’m on, you’ll stop inviting me and listening to me.” He added, “Trump doesn’t grasp this. People need to be honest with him. At this stage, Harris is already gaining a convention bounce before the actual convention, and if Trump persists in his current behavior, Harris might end up with a 5- or 6-point lead post-convention,” as highlighted by Mediaite.
Recent polls reflect Harris’s growing advantage over Trump. According to an average of national polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Harris leads Trump by 2 points, with her support at 49 percent compared to Trump’s 47 percent. However, The New York Times/Siena College polling shows Harris ahead by 4 points in key battleground states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
