JD Vance, the current Republican vice presidential nominee, asserting that he is detrimental to Ohio and America. “JD Vance is not good for Ohio, he’s not good for America, and he doesn’t advocate for everyday people,” Beatty declared on MSNBC’s “The Katie Phang Show.” “He’s more than just unusual; he’s a joke.”
A recent poll from ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos indicates that Vance’s Democratic rival, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is viewed more favorably. The poll reveals that 39% of respondents hold a positive view of Walz, compared to 32% for Vance.

Beatty further criticized Vance’s career trajectory, suggesting that his successes were largely facilitated by wealthy Republican supporters, possibly referencing billionaire Peter Thiel. “Vance’s opportunities have been handed to him, unlike Vice President Kamala Harris, who has had to fight for everything throughout her life,” Beatty added.
Both Vance and Walz are scheduled to debate in early October, with the debate set to be broadcast on CBS. Vance confirmed his participation, also accepting an additional debate invitation from CNN. “The American people deserve as many debates as possible,” Vance stated. “I look forward to both debates.”
Responding to Beatty’s comments, Vance’s spokesperson, Luke Schroeder, highlighted Vance’s challenging upbringing, including poverty and family struggles. “JD earned the American dream through hard work and determination,” Schroeder said, countering Beatty’s claims and emphasizing Vance’s personal achievements and service.
