According to a poll released on Wednesday, Vice President Harris is seen as more honest and disciplined compared to former President Trump. The Associated Press/NORC Research Center survey reveals that nearly half of Americans describe Harris as “committed to democracy” and “disciplined,” while about 30 percent attribute these qualities to Trump.
Additionally, 40 percent of respondents view Harris as “honest,” compared to just under 25 percent for Trump. In terms of empathy, roughly 4 in 10 people believe Harris “cares about people like you,” whereas about 3 in 10 attribute this quality to Trump, according to the poll.

These findings come as Harris gains momentum in the polls, bolstering Democratic prospects for November. The Harris and Trump campaigns have clashed over the vice president’s image, with Trump’s team portraying her as ineffective and untrustworthy.
Despite Trump’s campaign branding him as a strong leader, the poll indicates this has not translated into a clear advantage. Approximately 4 in 10 respondents see Trump as a strong leader or capable of handling a crisis, a figure comparable to Harris. On policy issues, Trump holds an edge on the economy and immigration, whereas Harris leads on health care, abortion policy, and race issues.
Democrats are showing increased enthusiasm for Harris, with about two-thirds expressing strong excitement about voting in November, a major rise from 40 percent in March. Harris currently leads Trump by 1.4 percent in The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s average of national polls and has narrowed the former president’s advantage in crucial battleground states.
