CNN anchor Anderson Cooper praised Michelle Obama’s address on the second night of the Democratic National Convention, describing it as “the most compelling political speech I’ve ever heard.”
Cooper highlighted the speech’s exceptional impact and power. CNN commentator Van Jones echoed this sentiment, sharing his surprise at how much he missed the former first lady and her impactful rhetoric.
Obama’s speech, which was among the final addresses in Chicago that evening, garnered serious acclaim. In her remarks, she lauded Vice President Harris and took pointed critiques at former President Trump, particularly targeting his recent comments about “Black jobs.”
Curiously, she chose not to reference President Biden in her speech.
The former first lady’s address was also a call to action for Democrats, encouraging them to be proactive. Leading the audience in chants of “do something!,” Obama urged action in the face of misinformation and criticism.
“We must heed Kamala’s mother’s advice: Don’t just sit around and complain — take action!” Obama emphasized, rallying the crowd to respond energetically to falsehoods and challenges.
