Trump Dismisses New York Governor’s DNC Speech as the ‘Nastiest’

Former President Donald Trump and New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D)

Former President Trump launched a sharp critique of New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) on Wednesday, labeling her as the most “hostile speaker” at this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. This followed Hochul’s Monday speech, where she condemned Trump as a “fraud.”

Trump took to Truth Social to express his discontent, describing Hochul as “the very unpopular Governor of New York” and criticizing her vehemently for her remarks about him. He accused her of harboring extreme animosity and making unrestrained statements.

Hochul’s speech had characterized Trump as a “fraud, a philanderer, and a felon,” stating that he lacked the “New York values” she was familiar with. She argued that he had never faced everyday struggles like childcare costs or rent, unlike ordinary New Yorkers.

Trump responded by asserting his accomplishments in New York, emphasizing his role in creating jobs, building remarkable structures, and contributing substantial taxes. He suggested that if he were to become President again, it would benefit New York to have a cooperative relationship between the Governor and the President, rather than an adversarial one.

Trump also criticized the New York judicial system, alleging it is biased and controlled by the Governor. He referred to recent legal challenges he faced in New York—one involving a $355 million judgment and another related to a criminal case over hush money—as politically motivated, arguing that Hochul’s remarks exacerbated the negative treatment he received from the judicial system.
