Charlamagne tha God speculated on Wednesday that former President Trump may no longer be committed to his presidential bid, citing what he perceived as a lack of enthusiasm during Trump’s recent rally in Michigan.
On “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne played an audio clip from Trump’s rally in Howell, Michigan, where the former president seemed unusually subdued and slow. “He doesn’t want to be there anymore,” Charlamagne commented, suggesting Trump’s diminished energy indicated he is no longer interested in being the Republican nominee.
Charlamagne also compared Trump’s situation to the pressure Democrats applied to President Biden to withdraw from the race after a weak debate performance. Biden eventually stepped down and endorsed Vice President Harris as his successor.
During his Michigan speech, Trump emphasized a tough-on-crime stance, aiming to appeal to suburban women voters. Charlamagne described Trump’s demeanor as if he “wants to be put out of his misery,” reflecting his belief that Trump’s heart isn’t in the campaign.
Charlamagne also referenced former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s remark that the party that retires its 80-year-old candidate first will have an advantage in the election. Haley, who ended her GOP presidential campaign earlier this year, suggested that the Democrats’ energy stemmed from their decision to move on from an older candidate.
Despite Trump’s stable support, Vice President Harris has gained traction since becoming the Democratic frontrunner, leading Trump by 3 points in recent polls. Harris’s growing popularity includes support from voters who were dissatisfied with both Trump and Biden.
