Shapiro declared, “What Trump offers is not freedom.” He challenged the notion that restricting children’s access to certain books or dictating women’s choices about their own bodies could be considered freedom. His remarks were met with enthusiastic applause as he stated, “It’s not freedom to allow people to vote while someone else decides the winner. That’s not freedom.”

He framed the upcoming election as a critical choice between continued progress and a descent into disorder and radicalism.
As one of Harris’s most prominent supporters in the lead-up to the general election, Shapiro has drawn comparisons to former President Obama for his compelling oratory skills. Although he was a finalist in Harris’s selection process for vice president, losing out to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Shapiro remains a crucial figure, especially in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Despite some opposition from progressives within the party, particularly over his positions on the Israel-Hamas conflict and his handling of pro-Palestinian protests in Pennsylvania, Shapiro continues to be a key ally in Harris’s campaign.
