Kevin O’Leary, known for his role on Shark Tank, recently drew a parallel between Vice President Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, suggesting Harris might face a situation akin to Clinton’s in 2016. During a Fox News interview on Saturday, O’Leary speculated that if Harris were to lose the upcoming election, it could prompt the Democratic Party to reevaluate its choices.
O’Leary pointed out the similarities between Clinton and Harris, noting that both have been heavily endorsed and supported by the Democratic establishment. He highlighted that the same process that led to Clinton’s nomination is now coming to light with Harris.
As speculation grew about President Biden potentially stepping aside, questions emerged regarding who might replace him and whether the party would consider a mini-primary to explore other options. When Biden did decide to endorse Harris as his successor, top Democrats rallied behind her, officially naming her as the party’s nominee at this week’s Democratic National Convention.
O’Leary expressed concern that if Harris were to lose to Trump, similar to Clinton’s loss in 2016, it could result in the party avoiding such an outcome in the future. “I’m not predicting she will lose, but I believe I wouldn’t have allowed that scenario to come to play,” he remarked. He likened his approach to selling a business, where he insists on seeing all possible offers before making a decision.
The investor also voiced surprise that the Democratic Party did not entertain other potential candidates, such as Governor Gavin Newsom of California. He questioned the decision not to consider other options, suggesting it could be a misstep.
