GOP strategist Scott Jennings urged caution for Donald Trump after the former president allied with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., describing the independent candidate as “a bit of a loose cannon.”
During a conversation with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Jennings was asked if Kennedy’s backing might hurt Trump due to the controversial environmental lawyer’s views on vaccines and conspiracy theories. Jennings acknowledged that while many Kennedy supporters are likely to rally behind Trump in the election, there could be potential drawbacks.

“There may be a downside,” Jennings noted. “RFK was once a liberal conspiracy theorist, and now he’s shifted to a conservative one. But in the end, he’s still a conspiracy theorist, and some think he’s a little out there.”
Jennings advised Trump to approach the alliance with caution, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of Kennedy’s past. He warned Trump to be mindful of promises made to Kennedy, referencing the latter’s erratic career.
Kennedy, who initially launched a Democratic presidential bid, switched to an independent run in October. After a decline in his polling numbers, he suspended his campaign in Arizona and endorsed Trump. Soon after, he appeared alongside Trump at a rally near Phoenix, where Trump praised Kennedy’s influence on his campaign.
Kennedy pledged to withdraw from ballots in key swing states to avoid swaying the election but still planned to compete in most states.
Meanwhile, Democrats criticized Kennedy’s alignment with the GOP, with Vice President Harris’s campaign offering a fresh vision for the country, seeking to unite voters looking beyond Trump.
