In a recent survey assessing personal qualities like cooking and dancing skills, Vice President Harris outperformed both President Biden and former President Trump. Released on Saturday, the YouGov poll focused on nonpolitical attributes to gauge public perception of Harris and Trump as individuals rather than political figures.
The results reveal that 50 percent of participants believe Harris would excel in a cooking competition, compared to only 10 percent who think Trump would win. The survey also indicates that Harris is favored in a dance-off, with 50 percent of respondents backing her over Trump, who garnered just 14 percent.
Harris’s dance videos have gained popularity since she became the leading Democratic candidate after Biden’s withdrawal. According to the poll, Harris is perceived as a more reliable babysitter and has a superior fashion sense.
Respondents also believe she is more likely to assist strangers and remember birthdays. Harris, who recently became the official Democratic nominee, also scored better for offering parenting advice.
As a stepmother to Doug Emhoff’s children, Cole and Ella, Harris contrasts with Trump, who has five children from three marriages. On the campaign trail, Harris has humorously discussed her spice tolerance with her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), with respondents believing she handles spicy food better than Trump.
Trump leads Harris in only four out of twenty categories. He is seen as more likely to win at arm-wrestling, poker, financial advice, and celebrity impersonations. A similar survey from June showed Biden as more personable and kinder than Trump, with higher ratings for helping strangers and offering relationship advice. The latest YouGov survey, conducted from August 16–19 with 1,143 participants, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
