Next week, Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) will go on a bus tour through Georgia, marking their first joint campaign event since accepting the Democratic nomination at the recent convention. This trip represents their initial campaign visit to the crucial swing state together.
Their itinerary includes a journey through southern Georgia, culminating in a rally in the Savannah area, where Harris will address supporters after Walz departs the state on Thursday night. The campaign’s investment in Georgia is substantial, with over 170 Democratic staff members working in 24 coordinated campaign offices across the state.
At the Thursday rally, Harris is expected to present a clear contrast between Donald Trump’s “dark and dangerous” Project 2025 agenda and her “optimistic and patriotic” vision for progress, as stated by the campaign. The event also aims to boost volunteer engagement, building on the success of recent rallies that increased volunteer sign-ups in key battleground states.
Prior to this, Harris and Walz conducted a bus tour through Pennsylvania, another vital swing state, during the week before the Chicago convention. Harris returned to Washington on Friday after the convention. Current polling data from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ shows former President Trump leading with 49.2 percent support, while Harris trails at 46.5 percent.
