The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund has urged an investigation into Robert F. Kennedy Jr., following resurfaced claims from his daughter, Kick Kennedy. According to a 2012 interview with Town & Country magazine, Kick alleged that in the mid-1990s, Kennedy, an environmental advocate, severed the head of a deceased whale that had washed ashore in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
The group argues that such actions violate both the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act, prompting a call for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to probe the matter.
Kick Kennedy recounted the incident, saying her father transported the whale’s head strapped to the roof of his car, leading to a chaotic journey with the whale’s bodily fluids spilling into the vehicle.
This anecdote has recently gained traction, particularly after Kennedy, who concluded his independent presidential bid and endorsed former President Trump, became the focus of renewed scrutiny.
The advocacy group has demanded that Kennedy surrender any wildlife parts he may have unlawfully retained, including the whale skull. They emphasize the importance of preserving such specimens for scientific research, which can be compromised when private individuals interfere with the remains of endangered species.
This call for investigation is the latest in a series of unusual stories involving Kennedy. Earlier this month, he made headlines for claiming that he had discarded a deceased bear cub in Central Park years ago.
Kennedy, who began his 2024 presidential campaign as a Democrat, shifted to an independent candidacy in October but recently suspended his campaign despite falling poll numbers, subsequently endorsing Trump.
