This event will be their first collaborative effort on the campaign trail, following prior joint appearances at official White House functions, including one focused on Medicare drug savings. Biden has previously indicated his intention to bolster Harris’s candidacy in Pennsylvania, a vital swing state for the upcoming election.

Additionally, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu will be active in other key battlegrounds.
Since her ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket, Harris has garnered support from major labor groups such as the United Auto Workers (UAW). She is anticipated to continue Biden’s pro-union stance, which was highlighted by his active support for striking autoworkers last year.
However, former President Donald Trump has suggested that union members may align with his campaign, despite his contentious relationship with union leaders like UAW President Shawn Fain, who has criticized Trump. Trump’s supporters argue that winning over even a small portion of Biden’s labor base could be pivotal in what is expected to be a tightly contested election, especially given Trump’s loss among union voters in 2020.
