Trump criticized the state’s voting process, particularly ballot harvesting and the distribution of multiple ballots to individuals, which he believes favors Democrats. He argued that an “honest vote counter” would lead to his triumph in the historically Democratic state, where he claimed strong support among Hispanic voters.
Despite Dr. Phil’s surprise at Trump’s assertion, the former president insisted that the widespread presence of Trump signs in California reflects his popularity. He also criticized the state’s reliance on mail-in voting, claiming that millions of ballots are sent out, contributing to what he perceives as a dishonest voting system.

Trump’s comments drew swift responses, including from Vice President Harris’s campaign, which dismissed his claims as delusional. The campaign criticized Trump for his refusal to accept the 2020 election results, his record in the latter part of his presidency, and his association with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, ending federal protections for abortion access.
The campaign spokesperson, Sarafina Chitika, emphasized that Trump still refuses to acknowledge his 2020 loss, despite the violent insurrection that followed. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) also weighed in, sarcastically suggesting that Jesus, as the creator of the laws of the universe, would confirm Trump’s loss in California, along with other key battleground states.
Recent polling before President Biden’s withdrawal from the race and his endorsement of Harris showed Biden leading Trump in California by a substantial margin.
