Speaking on TMZ Live, Kennedy shared that Hines, an actress known for her role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is a staunch Democrat who found his backing of Trump unsettling and completely unexpected. Kennedy acknowledged that his decision caused her serious discomfort, emphasizing that her reaction was the “opposite of encouraging.”

Kennedy, an environmental lawyer, recently suspended his presidential campaign. He disclosed that Trump reached out to him shortly after an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, prompting Hines to suggest a conversation with the GOP nominee. She was present at the meeting to ensure no rash decisions were made.
Following Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump, actor Bradley Whitford criticized Hines for not speaking out against her husband’s decision. Whitford took to the social media platform X, accusing Hines of remaining silent while her husband supported someone he referred to as an “adjudicated rapist” who strips women of their rights. He sarcastically praised her “gutsy” stance and questioned the example it set for children.
In response to Whitford’s criticism, Kennedy admitted that he had to “suppress some strong feelings” but eventually condemned the actor’s approach as “bullying.” He questioned why Whitford chose to attack his wife rather than challenge him directly on the issue, calling it a cowardly tactic and questioning the character of someone who would engage in such behavior.
