Stephan A. Smith, a prominent sports commentator, discussed President-elect Trump’s victory over Vice President Harris this week, emphasizing that the outcome represents a broader statement about the Democratic Party’s future.
During a Thursday evening segment on Fox News’ Hannity, Smith rejected claims that Trump’s win was merely a series of small victories in various areas. “I don’t want to hear that,” Smith remarked, asserting that Trump’s victory was overwhelming.
He emphasized that Trump’s triumph was so decisive that it forces a reassessment of the Democratic Party. “He won and he won in absolutely convincing fashion, so much so that we have to view this election as a referendum on the Democratic Party,” Smith declared.
Trump’s remarkable win has sparked discussions about the Democratic Party’s direction. Many political strategists believe that the Harris campaign relied too heavily on outdated tactics that no longer resonate with voters in 2024.
Smith pointed out that the American electorate has clearly rejected the current political direction. “America’s saying, ‘We’re not feeling where you are. We’re not feeling where you tried to go. We want no part of it,’ and they made their choice and we have to accept it,” he said.
Smith has previously hinted at running for the White House but stated that he would only consider such a move if he felt he had a legitimate chance of winning. On The View on Thursday, Smith explained that, if he did decide to run, it would be as an independent.
“I don’t like either side, and I’m not going to be bought and paid for,” he said. “I’m going to do what I believe is in the best interest of the American people, whatever that may be, and I’m going to make my decisions and stand on them.”
