Trump’s campaign has announced that former Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler will co-chair the President-elect’s inaugural committee, alongside Steve Witkoff. The Republican leader emphasized that the committee’s goal is to celebrate his victory in the 2024 election and honor the American people.
“The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee will honor this magnificent victory in a celebration of the American People and our nation,” Trump said in a statement. “This will mark the beginning of my administration, which is committed to fulfilling bold promises to Make America Great Again,” he continued.
“Together, we will commemorate this historic moment and then set to work creating the most incredible future for our country, restoring strength, success, and common sense to the Oval Office.”
Loeffler was appointed to the Senate in 2019 by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp following the resignation of former Sen. Johnny Isakson. During her time in office, she was a firm supporter of Trump and backed a lawsuit attempting to overturn the 2020 election results, although she distanced herself from the effort after the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
These appointments follow Trump’s selection of longtime senior advisor Susie Wilkes as his chief of staff, making her the first woman to hold the role. During the campaign, some of Trump’s critics claimed he was resistant to being “challenged by women,” and he faced backlash for remarks suggesting he would protect women regardless of whether they “liked it or not.”
