Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) praised the GOP’s accomplishments in the 2024 election cycle, attributing Vice President Harris’s presidential loss to the Biden-Harris administration’s record. During an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday,” Lawler refuted claims that Trump’s substantial lead over Harris didn’t translate to similar gains in down-ballot races.
Pointing to his district as an example, Lawler noted, “Four years ago, Joe Biden won my district by a 10-point margin. This time, Donald Trump is either likely to win here or come close, marking a considerable shift across the nation,” he told Chris Stirewalt.
Lawler attributes voter dissatisfaction to economic and international crises under Biden and Harris
Lawler attributed the GOP’s success to one core factor: the issues. According to Lawler, Americans are dissatisfied with what he described as a series of economic, migrant, and international “crises that have intensified under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
Rejecting the notion that Harris’s limited time as nominee hindered her connection with the public, Lawler added, “She’s already the sitting Vice President of the United States. That explanation doesn’t hold up. This loss reflects this administration’s failure to address the pressing concerns of Americans, and the voters have made their voices clear.”
