The Olympic snowboarder posted a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, capturing the proposal at New York City’s Golden Swan restaurant in late October, followed by a celebration with their close family and friends.
The video opens with a shot of Nina Dobrev’s stunned reaction as she walks into the venue, soon followed by White proposing in front of a beautiful white rose arch with petals scattered across the floor. In the heartwarming clip, White is heard telling Dobrev, “Being with you is the adventure of my life” and “I love you,” as she tears up.
He then gets down on one knee and asks, “Will you marry me?” She responds with a joyful nod and a heartfelt “Yes,” before he stands to embrace and kiss her. Afterward, White humorously gets back down on one knee, realizing he had forgotten to place the ring on her finger.

Dobrev later shared more details about the engagement with Vogue, revealing that White had orchestrated the proposal by sending her a fake invite for a private CFDA/Vogue dinner with Anna Wintour. Instead of meeting Wintour, she walked in to find White ready to pop the question. “He said all the right things,” Dobrev recalled.
White had already announced the news on Instagram, posting a series of photos from the moment she said “yes,” with the caption, “She said YES.” Dobrev reshared the same photos on her account, adding, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
