Sylvester Stallone has praised President-elect Trump, comparing him to America’s first president, George Washington, and calling him the “second George Washington.” Speaking at the America First Policy Institute gala at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, the “Rocky” star noted that when Washington defended the country, he could not have predicted the immense impact he would have on the world.
Reflecting on Washington’s legacy, Stallone expressed how crucial his leadership was, saying, “Without him, you can imagine what the world would look like.” The actor then declared to the audience, “Guess what? We got the second George Washington,” earning applause from the crowd.
The 78-year-old actor continued drawing parallels between Trump and the iconic film character he portrayed in 1976. Stallone recalled the opening of “Rocky,” where the first image was of Jesus, which then transitions to a scene of Rocky being struck.
“At that moment, he was a chosen person,” Stallone explained, likening this moment to Trump’s own journey, suggesting both underwent a transformative process that would change lives.
“We’re in the presence of a really mythical character,” Stallone said, emphasizing his admiration for the president-elect. “Nobody in the world could’ve pulled off what he pulled off — so I’m in awe,” he added while introducing Trump at the event. Stallone has frequented Mar-a-Lago in the past, and in 2018, Trump credited the actor with urging him to pardon the late boxing legend Jack Johnson.
