President-elect Trump has taken aim at renowned pollster Ann Selzer, who recently announced her retirement, calling for an inquiry into an Iowa poll she conducted that caused a stir in the final days of the election.
Trump expressed his discontent on Truth Social, describing the poll as “totally Fake” and accusing it of fostering distrust and uncertainty during a pivotal moment. He asserted that Selzer’s actions were deliberate, stating, “She knew exactly what she was doing.”

In his post, Trump also extended gratitude to the “GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA” for their support, despite what he suggested could have been “ELECTION FRAUD” tied to Selzer and The Des Moines Register, the publication behind the survey. He concluded by demanding an investigation into the matter.
The poll, conducted shortly before Election Day, indicated Vice President Harris had a lead over Trump in Iowa, creating a nationwide ripple effect. However, Trump eventually carried the state by a margin exceeding 20,000 votes.
Selzer, who has been affiliated with the Register’s Iowa Poll since 1997, revealed her decision to step down in a Sunday column. She acknowledged the timing was not ideal, remarking on the irony that her announcement followed a discrepancy between polling and election outcomes.
She clarified that her decision to retire had been communicated to her employers over a year ago, indicating the timing was unrelated to recent events.
